Bloated Batteries and Its Causes

Bloated Batteries and Its Causes

Fig 1.1 shows a bloated battery.

If the screen of any of your electronic devices seems to be popping out slightly, and your charge seems to run out faster than initially, this might mean that your battery has bloated and has since decreased in capability. If you would like to know what causes a battery to bloat, and how you can prevent this in the future, read on further below.

WHAT CAUSES A BATTERY TO BLOAT

  1. You are using heavy applications on your laptop 24/7, which causes a strain on your laptop as the CPU heats up and the device is not sufficiently cooled down.
  2. You are pushing your laptop to work on heavy applications when the battery percentage reaches 20% and below.
  3. You have not used the battery (which is either at 0% ro 100%) for over 2 months.

HOW TO ENSURE YOUR BATTERY DOES NOT BLOAT

  1. Install MacsFanControl to ensure that the laptop is sufficiently cooled down when it is being heated up.
  2. Do not use heavy applications beyond 20%, let it charge and then reuse the device again
  3. Replace bloated battery to ensure that your device will not experience further damage, or decrease in ability.
