A Smart Way to Recycle Your Old Used Electronic Item

ALBA E-Waste, Singapore's integrated waste recycling program.

Electronic gadgets are one of the things that are most needed by humans in this era. On average, everyone has at least one gadget, or even more. Because of this, the amount of waste of electronic goods, including gadgets that have been damaged and probably is no longer used, continues to increase every year.

In a developed country like Singapore, the recycling of used electronic equipment is one of the largest growing markets in the global waste management industry. No wonder, considering the large number of materials that make up electronic objects are usually precious metals and have a selling value. Computers, TVs, and cell phones, or other similar devices, for example, are usually made up of precious metals, including gold, silver, palladium, platinum, copper, and cobalt. In the production of modern electronic devices, manufacturers have innovated to reduce the amount of valuable raw materials and replace them with used component materials that can still be used.

So, in this article, Zapplerepair will explain what are the ways we can recycle electronic goods that are no longer used? Let's take a closer look!

If you live in Singapore, you must be familiar with ALBA E-Waste. ALBA E-Waste is the largest E-waste collection and recycling program in Singapore. ALBA E-Waste plans to collect regulated E-Waste or consumer electronics waste throughout Singapore for proper processing and recycling for a period of 5 years, from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026.

As reported on their official website, alba-ewaste.sg, e-waste will be routed through the ALBA E-Waste sorting & logistics center for weighing and categorization before being sent to a licensed e-waste recycler for recycling. The precious metal raw materials are then recycled for reuse and redistributed to electronics manufacturers, creating a circular value chain and allowing for minimal environmental impact.
